Special Events

6 Heures du Essex 2016

 

When

Sunday 20th March 2016

• Saturday 19th March: Practice 10:30 am – 3.:30 pm.

• Sunday 20th March: Race Day.  Doors open 8:00 am.

     Practice session starts at 8:15 am.

• Race Starts at 10:00 am. Morning session 10:00 hrs – 13:30 hrs.

     Lunch 13:30 pm – 14:15 hrs.

     Afternoon session 14:15 hrs – 17:45 hrs.

 

Teams

6 teams

• 3 minimum to a maximum of 4 drivers per team.

     Minimum of 1 hour per driver to a maximum of 2 hours 30 minutes.

 

Event Fees

£5 per Driver

 

Cars (1/32 scale)
Must comply with CSCRA SP4 (Can-Am prohibited) and SP5.
• Bodies must be hard plastic or resin
• Chassis must be plastic, resin or metal in any configuration.                                                                                                                                                                      • Ground clearance, 1.5mm min between underside of chassis and track at the start of the race.                                                                                                 • Front wheels must touch the track and rotate when the car is pushed forward.                                                                                                    
• Motor is free but Magmotors/Long Can Motors are prohibited
• Gearing, Free choice (10/28 inline, 11/32 sidewinder works well)
• Axles/ Wheels, Slot It, NSR, PCS. No F1 Hubs
• Tyres Slot It, NSR Rubber or PU tyres only. No Silicone, Ortmann or sponge. The track is gloss wood
• Guides braid etc, free choice (recommend slot. It deep wood guide)
• Traction magnets to be removed
• Weight can be added
• All body and motor screws to be taped over.

Bodies must have interior and rear wing where fitted at all times, but small details like Mirrors and wipers may be removed.
Note it’s a high speed track Offs tend to be big, so I would suggest clear tape over light lenses.

Race Format
• The 6 hrs race will be divided into 2 three hour segments; Morning (10.00hr – 13.30hr) and Afternoon (14.15hr - 17.45hr).  There will be a 45 minute           break for lunch between 13.30hr – 14.15hrs during which cars will be in “Parc Ferme”.  Each segment will be of twelve 15 minute sessions.
• 2 minutes break in between each session to swap drivers, marshals and pit crew positions.
• No drivers can drive more than 2 hours 30 minutes (10 sessions).  Teams are able to allocate drives to lanes as they choose.

Marshalling
• One team member of each team has to take a marshal position during every segment of the race, marshals positions can be swapped with the other   team member, making sure the position is covered at all time.

Tyre cleaning
• The racer at the driver station or a team member (not the one marshalling) can clean the tyres during racing, only with tape or Lighter Fluid. Goop is not Permitted.

Breakdowns and Car Repairs
• During racing every team will have a team member at the pit station in order to clean tyres or make repair work if necessary.
• During a break down situation, the race will keep running and the team must make every attempt to to repair the race car.  If the race car is beyond           repair it may be possible to use a spare car (see Spare Car section).

Spare Car
• Not really permitted.  Race car should be repaired.  However, in the case of a catastrophic failure a spare car may be used with the agreement of the Race Controller.  In the spirit of the event, a team may continue but will not be classified in the results.

• 2nd Team - Trophy
• Concours – Trophy (Race cars only)
